General Information:

State Route 33 is a mix of single carriageway and divided roads passing through residential, commercial, rural and industrial areas in Brisbane. It acts as a local arterial road which links the edge of the CBD to Ipswich.

The route features the vehicular ferry, the Moggill Ferry, over the Brisbane River at Moggill / Riverview, which is tolled.

Moggill Ferry:

About 1877, Henry Stanley, a lucerne farmer at Riverview, started a ferry service using a timber punt big enough to hold a horse and dray. The ferry later came under the control of the Purga and Indooroopilly Divisional Boards and is currently operated by a private company licensed by the Department of Transport. Many early passengers of the ferry were miners who lived at Moggill and worked at mines such as New Chum. 2
