General Information:

State Route 6 is an arterial route linking the Sunshine Coast hinterland with the coast. It's a mix of rural and suburban roadway, passing through farmland, bushland, rural, residential, commercial and light industrial areas.

The route takes a circuitous routing, and is not always the most direct route between towns.

The UBD Refidex 33rd Brisbane, Sunshine Coast & Gold Coast street directory published in 1989, refers to a State Route 8 duplex between Maroochydore Rd (SR8) at Maroochydore and Buderim Av (now former SR8) at Alexandra Headland. Apparently there was also an ALT-SR6 route along the former State Route 6 route through Currimundi, Dicky Beach, Moffat Beach and Caloundra, along Buderim St, Cooroy St, Beerburrum St, Elizabeth St, Buccleugh St, Maltman St North, Regent St, Bowman Rd and Caloundra Rd

Multiplexes along the route include:
