General Information:
A2 is more less an east-west route connecting Burnie with Tasmania's west coast, and like Bass Strait, the Bass Highway is named after explorer George Bass.
History:
- 2006: Safety improvements on the Sisters Hills section of the Bass Highway between Rocky Cape Road and Boat Harbour. Including highway deviation to the west of the Sisters Hills cutting, widening the cutting to the summit and improvements to the Devils Elbow Road (west) and the Whites Road junctions, improvements to the climbing lanes west of Sisters Hills, the construction of a new bridge at Wilsons Bridge, widening and extending the climbing lane east of Rulla Road, improving the Devils Elbow Road (east) junction and straightening the curve west of Myalla Road and straightening curves and lowering crests west of Montumana Road (east). *
