General Information:

SR40 is a single carrigeway rural highway connecting Perth with Western Australa's Wheatbelt. It's trafficked by both tourists going to places such as Wave Rock near Hyden and also freight movements. Some sections of the route are 1 lane wide between Kondinin and Corrigin.

History:

• 1998: On going widening works commence between Corrigin and Hyden. *
• May 2004: Completion of highway upgrade in the Corrigin area. **
• June 2005: Completion of repairs to Brookton Highway brige crossing the Avon River at Brookton *
