National Route 1 (New England Highway)
New England Highway is part of the 4 km connector route from the northern end of the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway at Beresfield, which joins the freeway to the Pacific Highway at Hexham. The section of NR1 between Beresfield is covered by John Renshaw Drive and also the New England Highway.
The NR1 section of New England Highway is all 4 lanes wide, and was once designated NH15, until the extension of NH1 was brought through to Beresfield in 1993, requiring a link from NH1 to NR1. There's plenty of remnant NH15 signs dotted along the route, which are technically incorrect.
