Castlereagh Highway
Located in New South Wales and also Queensland, the Castlereagh Highway starts just outside of Lithgow at a junction with the Great Western Highway and runs in a north-westerly direction past Mudgee and Gulgong, joins with the Golden Highway for approximately 8km east of Dunedoo, then branches off in Dunedoo (as SR86), continuing from Gilgandra as NR55 until it reaches the Queensland border at Hebel. From there it continues to the town of St George where it terminates as A55. The road continues north as the Carnarvon Highway, National Route 55.
Towns on the Castlereagh Highway include Capertee, Ilford, Mudgee, Gulgong, Dunedoo, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Hebel, Dirranbandi and St George.
