National Route 58: Riverina Highway
A predominatly east-west route, the Riverina Highway, known internally by the New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority as State Highway No. 20, commences at the Hume Dam near Albury and proceeds west parallel to the Murray River, via Albury, Howlong, Buraja, Lowesdale, Savernake, Berrigan, Finley and Deniliquin, where it joins State Highway No.21 (Cobb Highway), was named "Riverina Highway" by proclamation published in the Government Gazette on 15th October, 1954.
It passes through the Murray irrigation area where farms, orchards and vineyards predominate. It links this area to major markets in Sydney and Melbourne via Hume Highway in Albury. The highway is also a popular tourist route with scenic countryside, fishing and historic spots along its path.
Western Terminus: Cobb Highway at Deniliquin and the eastern Terminus is the Bethanga Bridge which crosses the Murray River (which acts as the NSW-Vic border), east of Albury.
