State Route 14 (Decommissioned) (Artarmon to Palm Beach)
State Route 14 was a major route to Sydney's northern beaches. As result, part of the route was replaced with Metroad 10 back in 1998. Suburbs along the route included Avalon, Mona Vale, Newport, Palm Beach and several others. Roads along the route included Pacific Hwy, Falcon St, Military Rd, Spit Rd, Manly Rd, Burnt Bridge Ck Deviation, Condamine St, Pittwater Rd & Barrenjoey Rd.
Proclaimed in 1974, SR14 initially extended from Palm Beach south to the Pacific Hwy (then NR1) at Crows Nest Junction. In December 1992, NR1 was re-routed onto the Gore Hill and Warringah Freeways, meaning SR14 was extended north-west along Pacific Hwy to Atarmon.
The remaining section of SR14, which is no longer shown on local signage as the section north of Mona Vale Road recieved no new route number, varies from 6-lane dual carriageway, extending as far north as Newport, transforming into a narrow and winding 2-lane road all the way Palm Beach.
The photos in this section, only cover the route from Mona Vale to Palm Beach, to see the section now covered by Metroad 10, click here.
