State Route 151 (Wollongong to Dunmore)

State Route 151 is a collection of routes in the Illawarra region, south of Sydney that are strung together to form a major through route from Wollonong to Dunmore. The route can be used as an alternate route to the Princes Highway (SR60) which takes an inland route. SR151 follows the coast most of the way instead.

Roads along the route include Shellharbour Road, Windang Road, Primbee Deviation, King Street, Five Islands Road, Spring Hill Road, plus in the Wollongong CBD: Bourke Street, Kembla Street and Corrimal Street.

State Route 151 was introduced in 1974 and passes through the suburbs of Dunmore, Shellharbour, Barrack Heights, Warilla, Windang, Primbee, Warrawong, Cringila, Mt St Thomas, and of course Wollongong.

Back in 1920 to 1931 south of Shellharbour, the route was originally the Princes Highway.

At Grade Crossing at Dunmore
Due to the fact the northern end of the North Kiama By-Pass won't be completed until it's connected with a planned Dunmore Deviation, Northbound traffic for SR151 must cross the Princes Highway's temporary southbound carriageway to access the road. January 2006.

Windang Town Centre
Northbound through the Windang town centre, January 2006. Note the right hand front traffic signal - it has an all traffic sign mounted on the post which faces Boronia Avenue. On the back of the sign is painted the town name Figtree and an arrow. This sign was probably installed during 1970s. A speculative guess would be that this sign was recycled from expressway works for the F6.
