State Route 61 (Decommissioned) (Richmond to Heathcote)
Introduced in 1973, State Route 61 was once a major artery in the Sydney road network, and to a lesser extent the roads it used still are.
Part of the route was replaced by Metroad 6 (Heathcote Road from the Princes Highway at Heathcote (Metroad 1) to New Illawarra Road at Lucas Heights) in the 1990s.
A section of SR61, the Phillip Parkway (SR61), was replaced upon the construction of the Westlink M7 Motorway in the Rooty Hill / Doonside area. Part of these works was to decommission the remainder of the route after a series of alterations in the Liverpool area through the 1990s, thanks to the introduction of Metroads.
Roads along the former SR61 include East Market St, Lennox St, Blacktown Rd, Richmond Rd, Rooty Hill Rd North, Woodstock Ave, Philip Parkway (now swallowed by the Westlink M7 motorway), Gt Western Hwy, Wallgrove Rd and Elizabeth Dr. Towns and suburbs along the route include Richmond, Llandilo, Blacktown, Doonside, Rooty Hill, Eastern Creek, Cecil Park, Bonnyrigg, Liverpool, Holsworthy, Lucas Heights and Heathcote.
