State Route 3: Isis Highway (Former Alignment: Bundaberg)

This page concentrates on the former Isis Highway / SR3 alignment through the town centre of Bundaberg. Not much exists in the way of remnant signage, however, the route is obvious because of the large ornate bridge crossing the Burnett River, and the fact that Bourbong Street joins to Takalvan Street seamlessly.

The route takes in Bourbong Street (Bundy's Main Street), Maryborough Street, Perry Street, Queen Street and Bundaberg - Gin Gin (Mount Perry) Road.

Burnett Traffic Bridge
Looking south as you approach the Burnett River on Queen Street, Bundaberg, March 2006. The Traffic Bridge was opened in 1900. Before then, ferry transport was provided across the Burnett River. This was a toll bridge - one penny for pedestrians and three pence for vehicles. The toll was removed on January 1, 1913.
