State Route 6

State Route 6 is located on the far northern edge of the Brisbane and area and stretches up into the Sunshine Coast and consists of many roads which act as major arteries through the communities in which they pass.

Starting in the mountains west of Beerburrum at Woodford on the corner of D'Aguilar Highway and Kilcoy - Beerwah Road at Woodford, the route eventually ends on Myall Street at Cooroy at the interchange with the Bruce Highway (NH-M1 / A1). The route takes in a staggering number of streets and road and passes through all kinds of territory including mountainous terrrain at Woodford, to coastal fringe suburbia and rural living areas and almost country town conditions in the Cooroy area.

The road itself varies from country roadway to steep windy mountain road, to suburban street to divided arterial road conditions and acts as a backbone to the densely populated areas of the Sunshine Coast such as Tewantin, Noosa Heads, Peregian Beach, Coolum Beach, Bli Bli, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Caloundra, and many many others. SR6 even takes in a section of the former Bruce Highway through Landsborough and Beerburrum (Steve Irwin Way (click for map from QMR), formerly Glass House Mountains Road - the name was altered in October after the death of nature conservationist Steve Irwin).
